There is a hunger intensifying in our country for revival, for a mighty move of God. But it will not fall until we lay hold of the key that can unlock the salvations, signs and miracles we desire. Jesus Himself shared it in His Sermon on the Mount:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6, emphasis added).
I love revival. I am a revivalist to my very core. After 50 years of ministry, during which I have seen revivals birthed many times, I’ve noticed that the most powerful moves of God are always formed from one thing: a cry for righteousness. Not a cry for revival or miracles, but righteousness.
I am not speaking of righteousness in a legalistic way but about the present power and glory of God that transforms our lives. The kingdom of God is built on this kind of Holy Spirit righteousness, along with peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. That’s why in order to see a move of the Holy Spirit, we must behave like citizens of the kingdom of God. We must strive for righteousness, as Christ admonished us to do in Matthew 5:6. When it is established in our lives, God will then give us His peace, His joy and an overflow of His Spirit—the elements of revival.
The thing is, you can’t fake righteousness. You can’t get it from the world. You can’t attain it through your own works. It is only the byproduct of an authentic, live-giving relationship with God. Your own works, your attempted self-righteousness, will only ever pull you down. Godly righteousness, on the other hand, not only exalts Him but lifts you up as well.
Right now, there is crisis and tribulation all over the world, even persecution. But there is also a longing for a revival, for our nations to be supernaturally set on fire for the Holy Spirit. Those who are only seeking revival and not righteousness are missing the mark.
But for those who are crying out for Him and for His presence, who desire to know the living God, who crave the transformation of the Holy Spirit, God is bringing forth a word to lift them out of their sins and build them up. God is forming champions who won’t give up but will instead get up and walk in the supernatural joy of the Lord.
These are the ones who will see their nation shake with the power of God as never before. These are the ones who will see revival in their generation.
You’re beautiful. You’re a nation shaker. I see Jesus in you.
Have a great week!
