I grew up always hearing the phrase, “Dress for success.” As Christians, how do we do that?
Before Christ went to Heaven in Matthew 28, He revealed to us what a Christian must wear to be successful. Jesus in His last words reveals what the best-dressed Christians are wearing this year, and those last words must become the cry of our heart.
“Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. o therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age'” Amen (Matt. 28:18-20).
Let me explain. In order to dress for success as a Christian, we must wear the authority of Christ! We must operate by the authority of heaven and earth. We do this by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Think and reflect on all the things Jesus taught. The three New Testament commandments are love God, love your neighbor and love each other. Think of all kingdom principles: Seek ye first the kingdom of God.
If you were today to give your last words to your family to live by just before you left, what would be the directions you would give?
Jesus wants His followers to have His power in abundant living and His authority in their words. He knows they must be given specific directions to unlock the Beatitudes, release His kingdom life, know the Word and pray for His love to revealed.
Jesus said, “And look, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).
I see in this verse four key concepts Christians must understand:
- The necessity of the Holy Spirit coming upon them.
- The promise of the Father.
- The place where it was going to be given—in the city.
- The power was from on high; its source was not from in them.
Cry out within you for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Remind our heavenly Father who desires to give good gifts to His children that He has made a promise of the Holy Spirit.
God loves for His children to remind Him of His promises. Be thankful for everything God is doing in the nations of the world and be amazed. But ask him for a fresh outpouring in you, in your church, in your city.
Know that His power is from the very throne of God and is dwelling in you. He is a promise of the Father. He is the gift of the Son. He is for every believer.
The best dressed Christians this year are clothed with power from on high.
You’re beautiful; I see Jesus in you!
Have an awesome week.
